Film:New Forest will be Unforgotten

We are celebrating another filming production success by way of the widely acclaimed ITV cold case drama series ‘Unforgotten’ which premieres series 3 on ITV on Sunday July 15 at 9pm.

The drama series; produced by Mainstreet Pictures stars Nicola Walker (Spooks) as DCI Cassie Stuart and Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars) as DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan and follows the pair as they work a cold-case and the ensuing fall-out of the investigation.

Cllr Michael Harris, our Portfolio Holder for Economic Development said, “Back in January, Chris Hankey, one of the location managers for the production, contacted Fim:New Forest for advice on locations for specific scenes they wished to film in and around the Lymington area. Over the following weeks, the team were able to assist with a variety of queries such as location advice, securing permissions for filming and finding suitable parking, The production unit set up base back in March and filmed in Lymington and the surrounding area for four days.Unforgotten shot scenes in Lymington

“Thanks to the increased range of filming locations added to our database, the district has been considered by a number of productions looking to film in the English regions and the benefit the four days Unforgotten filming generated for the area was in excess of £64,000* based on the local crew employed, the accommodation used, food and drink purchased and other services.”

After filming wrapped the senior location manager, Nick Marshall said, “the four day shoot we had in the New Forest for ‘Unforgotten’ could not have gone more smoothly, and everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful. From the County Council, Film:New Forest at New Forest District Council, the Forestry Commission, Highways, Wightlink, The Harbour Commissioners and all the individual locations we filmed at, it was a pleasure throughout and I hope to have the opportunity to return another time”.

Property owners can register their locations and buildings as potential filming locations,  film makers can get an idea of what the area has to offer in our short film ‘Through the Wardrobe‘ and local companies who can offer services to the film industry can also register.

If you are attending the New Forest Show on Thursday 26 July the team will be on hand to answer any queries at the New Forest District Council stand 225 on Block 24 next to the Rathbones East ring.
