Mark Kermode announced as head judge for Film Festival
We are delighted to announced that Mark Kermode, Chief Film Critic for the Observer, co-host of Kermode & Mayo's Film Review on BBC Radio 5 Live, host of his classical music show on Scala Radio, and reviewer for the BBC's News Channel Film Review, will be the head judge of our film competition at the New Forest Film Festival.
Mark has previously showed his support for Film:New Forest by narrating our promo film short showcasing the area to prospective filmmakers.
Cllr Michael Harris, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Innovations, said, "This is a real coup for us and the Festival to be joined by Mark, who will bring his wealth of expertise and passion for film to the Festival."
Film:New Forest has partnered with Gary Wronecki and Michael van Koetsveld organisers of the New Forest Film Festival on the competitive part of the Festival, looking for films of under ten minutes in seven categories; narrative, comedy, animation, horror, documentary, sci-fi, and music.
The festival takes place over nine days from the 8 to 16 June 2019, with events throughout the district. The film competition closes for general categories on 12 May and for student film categories on 26 May. The winning films will be shown at the Festival's awards ceremony on 8 June.
Mark joins other local industry experts Jon Cuthill, Guy Henry, Lisi Tribble Russell, and Keith English on the panel of judges and presenters.
