Great Expectations
Great Expectations, currently airing on BBC1 is a new series adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novel, for BBC and Disney FX by Steven Knight, the creator of BAFTA-winning Peaky Blinders.
Film:New Forest were contacted by the production back in 2021 when they started their recce process.
Filming took place last year at Bucklers Hard, which saw stars Olivia Colman (who filmed in Brockenhurst during her time playing Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown), Fionn Whitehead and Shalom, Bruce-Franklin descend on the New Forest.
Viewers of the show will see Buckler’s Hard and the Beaulieu River be transformed into Dickensian Doubles
Lymington hat maker, Sara Colacicco, said she was “thrilled” to see her creations in the TV series worn by Shalom Brune-Franklin who plays Estella, the great love of lead character Pip. Read the full article on Advertiser and Times website.
This production is an example of the significant financial investment which filming can bring to the district. The Film:New Forest project has to date delivered more than £3.5m of spend on local goods and services. This production alone generated £72k for the local economy.
