New Milton is a market town which dates back to Anglo-Saxon times. To the south of the town is the coast and cliff tops at Barton-on-Sea, with its spectacular views over to the Isle of Wight.
The high street includes Bradbeers Department Store on three-storeys, a local family-run business established in 1837. There is also a weekly market on a Wednesday.
The many green recreational spaces around the town which offer excellent filming locations and include Barton Common, Ballard Lake and Water Meadow, and Long Meadow with children’s play area.
The recreation ground in the centre of town has amenities for all ages: a play park for children, a skate park for teenagers, adult outdoor gym equipment, four all-weather tennis courts, basketball court, indoor and outdoor bowling greens and a performance pavilion.

New Milton’s bustling town centre boasts wide pavements decked with flowerbeds and benches, cafes, the Bradbeers department store, butcher, baker, florists and more. This is the longest high street in the New Forest which has easy access from the train station and plenty of parking opportunities throughout the town.
Barton on Sea
Barton on Sea is a coastal village with long stretches of beach and views of the Isle of Wight and Milford on Sea, the beaches are famous for their fossil beds.
The row of Coast Guard Cottages in Barton Lane is a distinctive feature of Barton on Sea. These cottages were built at the end of the nineteenth century by the Government to house armed guards to try and stop the smuggling that was rife in the area at the time.
Barton Common is a 19 hectare site managed by New Milton Town Council under Higher Level Stewardship.
It is a rare area of lowland heath-grassland, designated a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC).
Barbers and Barbells
This is a Victorian/Steampunk-esque barber shop and weights gym located in a Victorian property built in the 1800's, located in Ashley, just outside of New Milton and available as a filming location.
Features include REM Emperor barbers chairs, marble/dark wood barbers unit, ornate gold mirrors and brass spider chandeliers with 27 separate led Edison bulbs.
Chewton Glen is a hotel set in 130 acres of woodland, gardens and parkland. The estate now extends to the edge of the New Forest National Park and down to the Solent coastline.
There are 70 rooms and suites in total with 12 of them being luxury treehouses. The spa currently boasts 12 treatment rooms, a 17 metre swimming pool, fitness suite, dance studio, sauna and steam rooms, nail studio, hydrotherapy pool and hot tub.
This sports field’s facilities include a pavilion, changing rooms (including showers) and a social club. There is also a floodlit training pitch, three full size grass football pitches and mini pitches (9v9, 7v7 and 5v5).
Throughout the year the field hosts various car boot sales and events so could be the ideal place for a unit base.
