Film Festival: New Forest 2019 officially launched at the New Forest Show
On Thursday 26 July (at the New Forest Show) Councillor Harris, accompanied by a life size Star Wars Storm Trooper, officially launched the Film Festival: New Forest for 2019, which will take place from 8 – 16 June next year. He said:
“Filming brings real economic benefit to the New Forest, both in monetary terms and in the opportunities it provides for skilled employment. Next year’s 'Film Festival: New Forest' will be a treat which will celebrate the wonderful location we live in and the abundance of opportunities it gives film producers, along with the films and people that have taken advantage of what the New Forest has to offer.”
'Film Festival: New Forest' is a revival of the local film festival last held in 2012 and aims to build on the event's success as well as bring in new elements. The 2019 festival will see film showings around the district, many with a strong local connection, and film related events for those already in the industry, or who have an interest.
If you are a local business and want to get involved, perhaps by holding film-themed promotions and events please get in touch.
Throughout the day visitors could enjoy posing for selfies with the Storm Trooper and watching the Film:New Forest promo film voiced by renowned film critic Mark Kermode, which was shown in the NFDC stand's mini-cinema, complete with free popcorn. Excerpts from recent films and TV which have used the New Forest as a location were also shown; including ITV’s Unforgotten, Mission Impossible and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
