Enter The New Forest Film Festival 2019 short film competition
The competition is looking for films of under ten minutes in seven categories, narrative, comedy, animation, horror, documentary, sci-fi, and music.
Cllr Michael Harris, New Forest District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Innovations, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with The New Forest Film Festival to offer a competitive element to this celebration of the local film industry. We are hoping to showcase local creative talent, from directors with a local connection through to students. The films can range from studio quality to something shot on a smartphone. I’m looking forward to seeing what our local talent can do.”
Festival directors Michael van Koetsveld and Gary Wronecki will be joined on the panel of judges including Craig Campbell – comedian, Keith English – from Velvet Pictures and Director of “The More You Ignore Me”, and Cllr Michael Harris – who heads up the Film:New Forest Steering Group and is honorary lifetime BAFTA Member.
Prizes will be given to all competition winners and our sponsors so far include:
• Final Draft, the makers of the industry standard in screenwriting software, who are giving copies of their software to the best overall International and best overall Student entry.
• Moviola, who are awarding £300 to each of the New Forest Student category winners and will be screening the finalist and winning films at their venues throughout the following year.
• Pentex, who are awarding a £100 to the best Zero-Budget film of the festival, so that they can win their money back and go make another one.
The festival itself is taking place over nine days from the 8 to 16 June 2019 with events throughout the district. The film competition closes for general categories on 12 May and for student film categories on 26 May. The winning films will be shown at the Festival’s awards ceremony next year.
