Film:New Forest has been created as an economic development initiative by New Forest District Council (NFDC). Working in conjunction with key organisations, our aim is to boost the New Forest’s reputation as a film and TV filming location.
In 2016, NFDC joined partnership with Creative England to attract more filming to the area. Cllr Barry Rickman, Leader of New Forest District Council, said: “We welcome this partnership with Creative England and look forward to working with them. The investment generated through our collaboration will be hugely important in supporting our local economy and the 8,000 businesses here.”
What’s been filmed
The New Forest has played host to a number of major feature films and TV dramas including Star Wars: Episode IX, The Infiltrator, Mission Impossible 5 and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, to name but a few. You can take a look at what’s been filming, on our ‘Filmed in the New Forest’ page.
The New Forest is located 90 minutes from London Waterloo, and accessible from Heathrow and Gatwick airports, as well as the local airports of Bournemouth and Southampton.
The district is famed for its untouched woodland and far-reaching heathland, but alongside this is settings of vast coastline, historic buildings, flowing rivers, picturesque roads, industrial sites, bygone villages, free-roaming animals, and much more. You can see our range of locations on our Locations Database, which is free to register.
